TRU TV CHANNEL
Already an established hit in the U.S., the 24-hour truTV channel is headed to the U.K., where it will launch August 4. The network, part of the Turner Broadcasting portfolio, will be available on digital free-to-air TV via Freeview, Freesat and YouView, with further outlets to follow.
The network launches with a slew of content from the U.S.'s truTV channel, including series such as Hardcore Pawn: Chicago, Container Wars, World’s Dumbest…, South Beach Tow, Bait Car and Speeders. “We have already acquired further shows, and we are very much on the lookout for local acquisitions,” says Yates.
Acquisitions featured on the launch slate include Fear Factor, Redneck Island and Ink Master from Endemol and Killer Karaoke from Zodiak Rights, with others still under negotiation. “A truTV show is fun, with entertaining stories and larger-than-life characters and situations,” Yates says of the type of programming that fits the channel brand.
Sky and Freesat
